Kansas City Royals right-hander Zack Greinke has been named the American League Pitcher of the Month for April, marking the first monthly honor of his career.
Greinke went 5-0 with a 0.50 ERA and 44 strikeouts in April, leading Major League Baseball in wins, complete games (two), ERA and strikeouts. The 25-year-old pitched a total of 36.0 innings, allowing just two earned runs on 24 hits and eight walks in the month. Greinke’s pair of complete games in April included his first career complete-game shutout on April 18th at Texas. Zack extended his scoreless innings record to 43.0 innings over a span of six starts before allowing his first earned run since September 13, 2008. Zack joined Fernando Valenzuela as the only pitchers in Major League Baseball history, dating back to the early 1900s, to not allow an earned run through his first four starts. In addition, he entered the company of Don Drysdale and Orel Hershiser as the only hurlers in Major League history to record six straight starts without permitting an earned run.
And...
he is married to this piece of ass...
WELL DONE ZACK!
