"Six-burgh" (Ugh, another terrible monicker)

First things first...let me toot my own horn by saying my final score prediction was almost spot on (see below post.) Yeah, I know FWP didn't resemble anything close to an MVP, but let me be the first to blame it on the offensive line.
Second, that was an incredible game. As a football fan, it couldn't have gotten much better than that. High drama, nonstop intensity, what more could you ask for? Of course, after what transpired late last evening, I knew I was in for a firestorm concerning Little Benjamin. Let me be the first to say that he did play a solid game. Solid, not elite. He did what he was asked to do, for the most part, and helped lead a drive to win the Super Bowl, a most-obvious upgrade to his performance three years back. I still cannot sit here and admit that he played like an elite quarterback. You cannot drive inside the opponents 10 yard line, run that many plays and still only come away with field goals. This was the Arizona freaking Cardinals for god's sake, not the Baltimore Ravens...a defense that has been dubbed the worst to ever make it to a Super Bowl. Ben had plenty of opportunities to put this game away early and not make it a nailbiter, but he couldn't do it. I don't see the Patriots running a QB sneak on third and goal from the five. You can blame it on the playcalling, but if you have an All-World quarterback, there's no way a coordinator would make that call.
And another thing, unless you were watching that game with black-and-gold colored glasses, it was blatantly obvious that Kurt Warner was the better quarterback on the field last night. Over 350 passing yards and 3 td's against a team who doesn't allow over 300 yards TOTAL in the majority of their previous games. That man stared at a 13-point deficit and picked apart a legendary defense. If Kurt Warner had the Steelers' defense on his side last night, he'd be punching his ticket to Canton.
So yes, Medium Ben is a top 5 QB in the league. Best game manager there is. A winner. But that's all the Steelers need. He's a good fit for their offense, but with that defense, I can think of at least 5 other QB's who could thrive as the Steelers' game manager. Let's just say he's lucky to have been drafted by a quality organization, who because they had a subpar season in 2003 landed a higher-than normal draft pick and selected Medium Ben. So get off the talk of him being the best QB in the league. Remember, while he may have one more Super Bowl than Peyton Manning, Peyton does have one more Super Bowl MVP, and Tom Brady still has one more ring. So don't be too quick to judge.

  1. Just remember, if Harrison doesn't get that TD, the game totally changes especially because another field goal wouldn't win it for us. So once again our defense won us a Superbowl!! Not to take anything away from Holmes beautiful catch from a pass thrown into triple coverage, nice prayer.

  2. Ben even admitted that he thought that pass was intercepted when he threw it. But he's pretty good at playing on people's emotions.

    I'm a hater.
