The Penguin game is not even over yet but this needs to be said... Ryan Whitney needs to go, he is a defensive liability. How many times can a guy assist the other team in one season and still be on the top 2 lines night in and night out. If the Bouwmeester trade is legit they need to pull the trigger now, they free up 4 million a year and with all the potential free agents to be on this team they could easily pay the 25 year old Bouwmeester the 5 million a year. Whitney is a very good if not ELITE (haha had to get that in there) offensive defenseman, but lately seems afraid to pull the trigger and just cant keep the puck in the offensive zone while playing the point on PP. There are other reasons that the team struggles like too many role players and not enough pure goal scorers but Whitney is my lightning rod. I am fed up watching his lacksidasical play.
Id rather package Scuderi and Eaton + if needed, Whiteny will recover. As for now someone needs to have a talk w/ our O about shooting the puck, I was watching some of the Devils/Caps and it was depressing seeing the puck fired at the net constantly then flipping back to wayward passes and fancy puck handling bloopers.
ReplyDeletei'd hate to see him go, but tonight was just too much. way too careless in his own end, they always praise him for keeping his head up, but the only thing that helps him do is see what member of the other team is picking off his weak clearing pass.
